allure magazine april 2011

Have you received and read this month/April 2011 issue of allure?  I just read it today and I felt compelled to write/post about it and Laura Mercier makeup that is all over the issue.

So first I'll will start with talking about Laura Mercier's new Baked Eye Colour Shadows!!
From top left to bottom right:  Black Karat, Lagoon, Violet Sky, Ballet Pink, Pink Petal, Terracotta

This is Black Karat first applied dry, then applied wet for more pigment...love this color!
The new Baked colors are used either wet or dry, and both day or night!

Who doesn't want a flawless look to their face when wearing makeup or applying makeup?  Laura Mercier tells/explains all about achieving her flawless look!  Here's how.....

You must prime the skin!  Laura has her original primer, oil-free primer, mineral primer & hydrating primer.  This pretty much covers every skin type!

Now pick your appropriate foundation.  Laura Mercier has 3 different tinted moisturizers (illuminating,oil-free & original), hydrating foundation, silk foundation, mineral foundation, and creme smooth foundation.

Here are a few of the wide range of color/shade options that Laura Mercier provides.

This is great placement to pick your correct color/shade to best match your neck and face so everything blends naturally and flawlessly.

Now after your foundation is blended and smoothed into your skin and you have concealed around the eyes and/or anything that needs concealed on the face....you must set your foundation with a powder.

Using the wide fan brush to lightly stroke the invisible loose setting powder, allows better blush color blending and bronzer blending over top a liquid or creme foundation.

Interested in trying Laura Mercier?  Go to your nearest SAKS 5th Avenue or Nordstrom store.  A counter representative would love to help you and apply as many shades you would like!

Jane Iredale The Skin Care Makeup

Esthetician, ALICE, @ Kenneth's Hair Salons & Day Spas/Mill Run, performed a Jane Iredale makeup application on me to show me what difference this mineral makeup can make!

Currently, I wear Laura Mercier, Aveda, MAC, and some Jane Iredale makeup.  My skin has a lot of pink and red undertones throughout my face, with blue around my eyes giving me a darker cast around my eyes.  As a makeup artist myself, I am always interested in learning more makeup lines and new tricks for better application.

Here is my before picture with no make up on....scary!

Here is my transformation that ALICE did with Jane Iredale makeup

Here is what ALICE used to achieve the look she created:

First she used a product called ABSENCE with Jane's Foundation Brush.  This product controls oil and prevents shine in pictures from camera flash.

Liquid Minerals (radiant) was applied next with the same foundation brush.  This product has a plumping serum and contains CoQ10, a potent anti-oxidant.

Here is a chart about the science behind the Liquid Minerals

Next ALICE applied Jane's Circle/Delete #2 with using Jane's Camouflage Brush.  This product contains jojoba oil and is great for dehydrated eyes.

Jane's PurePressed powder in Amber, was applied next with Jane's Handi Brush.  This flawless, lightweight mineral powder contains SPF 20!

Jane's Balance Spray is sprayed onto the face after each step of application.  This product contains anti-oxidants, finishes and sets the makeup leaving it feeling like skin.  Smells wonderful!

Brows:  ALICE used a light matte brown powder with angled brush to define brows, then went over brow hairs with Jane's clear brow gel called browfix.

Eyes:  ALICE applied Canvas lid primer, then applied Jane's gold shadow to lid.  In crease, Jane's copper eye shadow.  Highlight, Jane's Oyster eye shadow.  Liner, Jane's cream to powder charcoal & truffle blended into lash line.

Mascara: Jane's lash lengthening mascara in Jet Black to help define my eyes and appear wider.

Lips:  Jane's PureGloss in cotton candy....feels great!

Cheeks:  Makeup Forever No 99, Scarlet Matte Red/Orange.  Jane's oyster eye shadow was used as a highlight on my cheek bones and bronze moon glow was used to contour my cheek bones.

Here is my after picture again

This eye shadow pallet, Artist Eyes #2 contains both the truffle color ALICE used for my liner and the copper color she used in my crease.

This chart is helpful in figuring out which colors and products work well together with which types of skin tones.

This is an amazing before and after picture showing the coverage that is achievable with Jane Iredale makeup.

This is Jane's Sweet15 pallet.  Includes 15 eye shadow colors, 3 blush colors and 3 lip plumper colors.

Here is a picture of Jane's foundation brush.

Here is a picture of Jane's Handi brush, excellent with the powder foundations.

MAC cosmetics

MAC!  Ever tried it?  I bet you will love it if you try it!  I thought I would share a little about their lipglass lip colors and how beautiful they are and how well they work!

MAC's lipglass comes in many, many different colors!  It also has a wonderful soft brush wand for easy application.

If you like shimmer or sparkle to your lip gloss, you have to try a lipglass in your favorite shade.

My favorite shade right now is "Money Honey"

"Money Honey" not only do I love the name, but it is a wonderful bright pink with lots of sparkle and shine!

If you want to get some attention to your lips and show off your mouth, you will want to try a lipglass.

Check out these beautiful, luscious lips in money honey...

FUNTABULOUS
is right!!

Look at that sparkle and shine!

Love that cool pink color...
